NextGen Scholars for Change empowers aspiring first-generation and low-income college students through mentorship. We recognize the economic barriers marginalized communities encounter and are committed to supporting students as they take the next step toward higher education. Our "Lead the Way Program" connects students with mentors who are first-generation or low-income college students and graduates themselves. This mentorship helps high school students navigate the complex and often overwhelming decisions involved in the college application process, ensuring they feel supported and confident in their journey toward academic success.

NextGen Scholars for Change focuses on a holistic approach when selecting candidates, not just merit-based. Meaning, we are looking for passion and driven students. We will select candidates based on letters of recommendation, essay responses, interview responses, and communication.
We encourage students to be as authentic as possible when responding to the essays. Focus on showing us who you are through your application and be as specific as possible. Stray away from generic responses and be unique and creative when answering the prompts!
Yes, interviews will be conducted the week of November 7th and finalists will be selected on November 21st.
