NextGen Mentor - Maritza Dominguez

As a recent graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with degrees in Political Science and Spanish, Maritza is passionate about empowering marginalized communities through advocacy and public service. Currently a Staff Assistant in Congressman Mike Quigley’s district office, Maritza has cultivated extensive experience in constituent services, serving as a liaison between constituents and federal agencies. She uses her role in Congressman Quigley’s district office to advocate for the needs of residents of the 5th congressional district. Empowered by public service, Maritza worked on Capitol Hill for Senator Dick Durbin and Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, where she expanded her knowledge about public policy and its intersection with law. As an aspiring immigration attorney, Maritza has extended her commitment to serving the immigrant community through her previous roles as a Legal Services

Intern with the New American Welcome Center and as a Legal Intern with Caritas in Asturias, Spain, where she supported victims of human trafficking, asylum seekers, and immigrants through legal advocacy and outreach. Maritza is dedicated to fostering a community at NextGen that inspires underserved youth to pursue careers in public service.
