About NextGen Scholars for Change
Our Mission
We believe all first-generation students, regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic background, should have a fair opportunity to enter public policy and service. We strive to inspire civic engagement and equip students with the resources to research and serve communities.
What is our Public Service Internship?
Our Public Service Internship program pairs first-generation students with Illinois state elected officials to gain real-world experience in government and engaging in a summer-long policy project on an issue they care about.
Through mentorship, research, and community engagement, interns develop leadership skills and create meaningful change in their communities.
